In this special occasion, we would want to single out the tremendous work of Stop TB Partnership an organization that has put a lot of efforts to profile TB and support community participation in TB response especially in the Africa region. We would want give special recognition to the Executive Director, Dr. Lucica Ditiu, the executive director, for her leadership in the organization and for her commitment and dedication to the global goal of ending TB by 2030.
We appreciate Dr. Lucica for her leadership in garnering political commitment through the special session granted at the United Nations High Level Meeting in 2018 that brought world leaders together to deliberate on their role in ending TB globally. Through her leadership, TB can now be said to be high on the political agenda.
We have come a long and cumbersome way over the past two decades, we would like to encourage all to keep the spirit love and friendship to see a world free of TB, where no one dies of this preventable and curable disease. A world where no one suffers catastrophic costs from TB, and a world where human rights for TB patients are upheld. Dr. Lucica has also incessantly called for all stakeholders to take up their positions in TB response to realize an end to the disease in line with the Sustainable development goals.
